Michel Gourary (IJC CEO), 11th January 2015 – Paris, France

"We have come here today as part of an Israeli-Jewish Congress delegation to express our deepest condolences as Israelis in the aftermath of the horrific terror attacks that happened during the last days in Paris and to show respect to the French Jewish Community and the French citizens.

We will now start to march with the heads of the Jewish Community in France and from other countries in Europe that came here today out of solidarity.

We are calling from here on European authorities to take all necessary and immediate steps to ensure that the safety of the Jewish people living in France and all over Europe becomes top priority and to take the necessary and immediate measures to combat the anti-Semitism epidemic continuing to sweep through Europe.

What is needed now is not mere words and condemnations, but concrete actions and drastic measures against this oldest and most enduring form of hatred."
